San Antonio is the last major stop on the way to my maternal homestead in D'Hanis, Texas. It is the home of the Alamo, the cradle of Texas Liberty. It is also the home of Mi Tierra, one of Virginia's favorite Tex-Mex places. For those who went to college in San Antonio (like me), Mi Tierra is the place you went at 2am after the bars closed (it's open 24x7.)
We spent a weekend in San Antonio when I graduated from Our Lady of the Lake University (with my Masters in Nonprofit Management - which was all done online.) I spent years there during my undergraduate work at St Mary's University.
San Antonio is growing west and north, so eventually, D'Hanis will just be a suburb and San Antonio and Austin will be merged.
