Dallas to Big Bend
There are probably hundreds of ways to get across basically most of the State of Texas from Dallas to Terlingua, but there are two major routes that we've found so far.
One way is the Interstate method - you channel your inner trucker and head down I-30 all the way until it runs into I-20, and then almost all the way until it runs into I-10 (but not quite.) I think we turned off at Monahans - which is the home of another State park we need to visit (the sand hills.) You get to go through Midland and Odessa.
The other way is one I considered but didn't want to discuss - but then our tour guide in Big Bend (who's from East Texas) mentioned it was the only way to go, and that is US-67. It is a diagonal route from far West Texas to Dallas (and beyond.) You pass through a lot of small towns that appear to be ghost towns, but it is much more scenic that the Interstates. Also, you can go through Stephenville and get BBQ. I prefer US-67.
